Millencolin started in october 1992 in the city of Orebro- Sweden by Nikola, Mathias and Erik, at first they used to sang in swedish . Nikola and Mathias played in a band called Seigmenn and Erik in Charles HÂrfager.
They were all skaters and punkers so they decided to began a band similar to operation ivy. The word Millencolin comes from the skateboard-trick Melancholy. They changed the spelling on it so it sounds more like a name.
Just before Larzon joined the band, the first release was made. It was named "goofy". Larzon played in Kung Pung but the band needed 2 guitarrists so Mathias moved to the guitar and Larzon to the drums. Now the band was: Larzon: drums, Nikola: Bass, vocals, Mathias: guitar and Erik: Guitar.
The first tape was called "Melack" recorded at unisound. Burning heart heard that and liked it. Then they recorded this six song cd named "Use your nose" in 1994. Then "skauch" was released. In August "Tiny Tunes" waas recorded. They started to play a lot in Sweden.
In -95 when Burning Heart moved to Orebro the album "Life On A Plate" was recorded, it was in august. In october they went to Germany for their first time, they played really good. Then in 1995 Epitaph contacted with Millencolin and released "Life on a plate" for the US in march 1996. That was a tour year. They toured in US/Canada, Europe, Japan and Australia. Almost 150 shows. The "Tiny tunes" change of name and of cover. Now it was called "Same old tunes"
In January 1997 "For Monkeys" was recorded, april 21 was the release date. A single with three songs ("Lozin' Must" from the album, "Vixen" a unreleased new song and a cover of Desmond Dekkers "Israelites") came out in the end of March. The For Monkeys tour was so cool. It last 1 and a half years and it was in Europe and US/Canada three times, and Japan, South America (Brazil, Argentina) and Australia one time. Almost 200 shows were played.
In November/99 they released their first movie video, a homemade video "The video included: Live stuff, their four videos, old homemade stuff, tour filming and some skateboarding. The video is mostly filmed by Millencolin and put together by Erik. The last release of the band was a CD named Melancholy Collection that contained the singles and not released songs, its pretty good. Now the band is working on a new album and it'll be out like in January so no tour dates until that date.
